Local Beauty Premiers At The Hanger
Durban born Sanam Parbhoo is passionate about classical Indian dance and also has great interest in all forms of dance and music. Sanam took to the stage after a ten year break in show business when she danced at the Eastern Evening show, "Taking Flight", which was staged at The Hanger in Virginia Airport last Saturday. It was the first time Sanam took to the stage after recovering from an immobilising spinal fracture, that left her in a brace for three months. Sanam wowed the audience with her classical folk fusion piece, adding her personalised touch to the impressive performance. Her bespoke talent is visible in not only the way she moves on the stage but also in her graphic designs, which is what keeps her busy when she is not dancing. The event was produced by Rampage Dance Company, which celebrated five years of The Eastern Evening brand with a spectrum of east-centric dance works, themed "taking flight". The 90 minute production was a Millennials approach to South African Indian dance culture.
