Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe

Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe

Date: 2016-06-24
The 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe was gratefully almost totally free of the safety-car and Nico Rosberg's string of bad luck seemed to have run its course as he set the track alight with exceptional driving skill.

The Rosberg fans were vindicated this weekend in Baku, Azerbaijan when Nico took back fifteen of the 34 points he lost to Lewis Hamilton, showing that he is going to remain a serious contender for the title for some time still.

Force India represented a serious competitor during qualifying only to lose out to bad luck with gearbox problems at the start and then Sergio Perez showed his mettle as an F1 driver claiming third place on the podium behind Sebastian Vettel in his Ferrari.

Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen took Red Bull to seventh and eighth positions respectively.

The City of Baku put on an awesome Formula One event and one competitor that may have been disappointed was Lewis Hamilton with a fifth place. Not what he was hoping for I'm sure.

So the points now stand with Rosberg leading on 141, Hamilton clinging onto second with 117, Vettel creeping up with 96 and Raikkonen holding fourth with 81. Mercedes, Mercedes, Ferrari, Ferrari and Red Bull fifth and sixth with Ricciardo and Verstappen.

Next Race is to be held at the Red Bull Ring. The Formula 1 Grosser Preis Von Österreich 2016 runs from the 1st to the 3rd of July. Don't miss it.
