Indigenous Plant Fair In Durban
Indigenous Plant Fair In Durban
This popular indigenous plant extravaganza showcases the widest variety of indigenous plants available at any one venue in KwaZulu-Natal.
It is a wonderful opportunity for both beginner and experienced gardeners to learn more about indigenous plants and the wildlife they support in the garden, from the many plant and wildlife experts on duty over that weekend. If you are an Olympics fan you will be proud to note that SA's plants have been winning gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show for years! Here is a chance for you to find out why.
From small succulent potplants to hanging baskets, from ground covers, to Aloes, shrubs and trees, from colourful fillers to sought-after collector's items - all will be available. Cycads with permits can be purchased from the Arnfred Nursery stand.
Free environmental short films will be shown on a rolling basis in the clubhouse by The Wildlife & Environment Society of SA (WESSA).
The plant fair entrance fee is R5.00 for adults - free for children under 12. Funds raised support the work of the KZN Coastal Branch of the Botanical Society of South Africa, whose slogan is to "know, grow and protect South Africa's indigenous flora" and the Botanical Education Trust, which sponsors botanical research.
