The Jets Reunite

The Jets Reunite

Date: 2016-03-04
Excitement is building amongst the popular club-goers of the 60s as news spreads of the well-known band, The Jets reunion set to take place this month. Band members Cyril Francis, Ortel Singh and Godfrey Daniels will be uniting in a one night only special performance to reminisce of music from the good 'ol days. Having formed just a few months ahead of another popular band, The Flames, The Jets are set to wow audiences with an explosive performance. The reunion will include Godfrey Daniels who will visit South Africa specifically for this event, since relocating to Ireland. Although Ortel Singh and Cyril Francis still play occasionally they are excited at the upcoming reunion which will include all original members, apart from Tony Lazarus who died tragically in an accident on 2007 and Ivan Daniels who died after falling ill in 2009.

The reunion will include a performance that will take place on Saturday 27 March 2016 at the Kharwastan Community Centre. The night will include original performances by the group, as well as performances of cover versions of bands such as Carlos Santana; Bee Gees and the Rolling Stones which were a hit amongst fans. Afterwards the group members intend on reuniting and meeting fans from back in the day, as well as new followers. The Jets used to have a massive following through their music career in the 60s and would receive thousands of letters in fan mail, as well as have supporters waiting for them to perform in Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth where their shows were always sold out.

The band's philosophy has always been that it was not drive by prizes they won in competitions or popularity, but it lied with their love for music. Their big break came when they won the Coca Cola Battle of the Bands in 1962, out-performing 15 bands from across the country to emerge as the victors. Since then their values have been that they could achieve anything with a vision, determination and passion - a message they would like to continue to pass.

Tickets for this one night only spectacular show are available.
