World Club ProAm Returns To North Coast Golf Courses

World Club ProAm Returns To North Coast Golf Courses

Date: 2015-03-06

Two of KZN's premier north coast golf courses, Zimbali Country Club and Prince's Grant Golf Estate, were showcased to the world when the PGA of SA | Mercedes Bens World Club ProAm returned to the province from 14 - 21 February. Round 1 teed-off at Zimbali Country Club to windy coastal conditions that challenged the golfers at the outset of the tournament. However, the weather played its part as the week progressed and the golfers enjoyed more favourable conditions as they returned to the north coast for Round 4 at Prince's Grant Golf Estate.

Prince's Grant and Zimbali not only proudly hosted the tournament, but also entered their own teams to compete for the title in the Professional Stableford and the team trophy in the ProAm 4-Ball Alliance.

The Prince's Grant team, sponsored by Sun Sibaya, was represented by PGA Professional Brad Ross and his amateurs Jason Reardon, Lance Whiteford and Cameron Fraser. After a fiercely competitive 90-holes, they finished tied 17th with Woodhill Country Club1 on 399 points, and 2nd out of the KZN teams, 2 shots behind Mt Edgecombe Team 2.

PGA Professional Steven Shearer and his amateurs Kevin Petzer, James Hawkesworth and Graeme Fraser competed in the Zimbali Country Club team, which was sponsored by Wasteman. They finished 4 shots behind the team from Prince's Grant and tied 19th place on 395 points with Mt Edgecombe County Club team 1 and Serengeti Golf Club.

Tournament spokesperson, Craig Clay-Smith, said, "The golfers enjoyed the north coast golfing experience at Zimbali Country Club and Prince's Grant Golf Estate and we would like to thank both courses for providing an unforgettable golfing experience. The accolades received, including the endorsement from the Department of Economic Development and Tourism as a foremost tournament promoting golf tourism for KwaZulu-Natal, is a huge achievement in our second year. We look forward to the enormous potential that awaits us as we continue to develop the World Club ProAm into the premier club championship on the PGA international golfing calendar".
