ACDP Helps Local Learners

ACDP Helps Local Learners

Date: 2013-03-14
The African Christian Democratic Party in KwaDukuza recently embarked on a special initiative to help young and impoverished learners in schools within KwaDukuza. The ACDP donated stationery hampers to Radha Roopsingh Primary in Etete and RA Padayachee in Shakashead on Wednesday 6 March 2013. Seventy seven underprivileged Grade One learners from RA Padayachee and forty two learners from Radha Roopsingh were recipients of stationery hampers which included pencil cases, rulers, erasers, pencil sharpeners, Pritt glue sticks, pencils and scissors.

ACDP members also encouraged the learners to strive for excellence in regard to their education. They highlighted the importance of an education and encouraged the learners to complete their education to secure a brighter future for themselves.

Sandy Peters, member of the ACDP Provincial Executive and Sipho Zungu, chairperson of the ACDP Youth Forum in Ilembe was present at this initiative. The stationery packs were sponsored by the ACDP branches of KwaDukuza.

The African Christian Democratic Party believes that education is critical when it comes to community transformation and poverty alleviation. The first place to start is with early childhood education. Research has shown that those deprived of early education and stimulation make slow progress.

Although education is a national and provincial priority, the ACDP supports local schools in their efforts to raise the standard of education. The party also encourages the more privileged communities to provide extra resources in schools where there are needs.
