Seychelles part 8

Seychelles part 8

Date: 2014-03-07
"Dare to Dream big dreams; only big dreams have the power to move men's souls."
-Marcus Aurelius

We are often asked, "How do you guys get to travel so much?" Our response is unanimous, "We Dream Big Dreams!"

We love life and love encouraging our readers to allow themselves to dream. Because by allowing yourself to imagine and fantasize about all your goals and the kind of life you would like to live, its inevitable that one day the dreams will become reality.

Believe me it happened to us.

Imagine that you have no limitations on what you can be, have, or do in life. Just for the moment, imagine that you have all the time, all the money, all the education, all the experience, all the friends, all the contacts, all the resources, and everything else you need to achieve anything you want in life. If your potential were completely unlimited, what kind of a life would you want to create for yourself and your family?  Now imagine that dream holiday.

La Digue island, which is just a short hop from the main island of Mahe, was our best experience of the Seychelles adventure. The quaint island life, the pristine natural surroundings, the friendly slowed Creole community and of course the five star opulence at Le Domaine de l'Orangeraie.

There is really plenty to do on the island of La Digue. Firstly there are some beautiful snorkelling and diving spots. The water is faultless and most time of the year the visibility is excellent. The beaches are beautifully maintained and not overcrowded.

There are many island style restaurants that are well priced and serve everything local and fresh. The freshest thing you will find in Seychelles is the grilled fish. Large chunks of succulent flavourful white delight washed down with an ice cold SeyBrew. We personally didn't fall in love with the local beer, however Guinness was usually the same price and that helped us fall in love with the Islands even more.

After adventuring around the island the most enjoyable part of the day awaits, back at the hotel. For us it was the bliss of Le Domaine de l'Orangeraie, with comfortable, shaded beach loungers lined across bright white sand just metres from the crystal clear water. Our stay was impeccable, from the shade a waive of the hand would produce another frosty beverage or a plate of local delights and a bottle of fine South African sparkling wine.

Retreating to the room before preparing for the evening meal meant a quick golf cart ride through the tropical forest that is the gardens of Le Domaine de l'Orangeraie. Pre dinner drinks were served on the veranda by my beloved, after a cool refreshing bubbly Jacuzzi we decided to walk to dinner in the cool evening breeze.

The moonlight playing amongst the fronds of the palm trees, the bruised purple sky slowly going black, peppered with crystal stars, it was almost too hot to hold hands but we did anyway. The pool was lit so beautifully, the staff greeted us in such a friendly way and the most perfect evening began to unfold.

After a long hot day on the beach it is important to hydrate, red wine, Guinness, Champagne, all these are good but few are as good as water. We gorged ourselves on an Italian theme buffet with each preparation presented in beautiful individual portions. Tiny pots of Melanzane, mini pizzas, little bowls of tiramisu, a selection of Italian cheese and a pasta station to rival Rome. Dinner under the stars was magical; the soft rustle of a gentle ocean seemed to accentuate the air of amorousness. The night was full of promise and delight.

Another brilliant day waited patiently for us to rise and breakfast at Le Domaine de l'Orangeraie was just the thing. The bottomless Champaign and perfectly crafted cappuccinos went so well with the fresh croissant selection of delicacies on offer.

As we leisurely did justice to our breakfast and the breath-taking view of an ocean so blue we thought someone must have painted it, we planned another sojourn through the rich green tropical forests, to another world class beach, or we could just laze by the pool and read our books.

You have to do it. You have to block off the time, scour the internet and book yourself into paradise. Check out Le Domaine de l'Orangeraie on La Digue, Seychelles.
