Basic Services Not Being Delivered

Basic Services Not Being Delivered

Date: 2014-03-14
For some months now I have been constantly contacting officials with complaints from both myself and residents regarding a host of basic service delivery issues not being attended to in and around Ward 102.

These include illegal dumping, grass and verge cutting, tree pruning, potholes, resurfacing of roads and illegal businesses. These are basic services that should be delivered to residents on a timely basis and this is just not happening.

A DA run municipality ensures proper planning and management of funds and this ensures basic services being delivered, the same cannot be said for this ANC run municipality.

eThekwini streets are unkempt and litter can be found everywhere. Grass is not cut timeously and when officials are asked for a schedule of the cuts no reply is given.

Illegal dumping plagues communities despite there being an education and enforcement department within DSW - clearly these are not working, yet alternate methods are not being sought.

Potholes riddle our roads - again alternate methods into sustainable materials and better workmanship are not being looked into.

The Land Use Management Department fails to shut down illegal businesses and always gives residents and myself the run-around. abandoned properties can be found throughout Ward 102 and have now become a haven for criminal activities, no action from SAPS and the municipality.

This municipality is in need of a serious reality check and over-haul. With an increase in fuel, the price of everything is set to increase putting extreme pressure on the citizens of eThekwini in terms of the price of food, water, electricity and basic necessities increasing. Ratepayers can continue to expect this lack of service delivery by this ANC run municipality as their money is constantly being wasted and mismanaged.
