FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN supports the #CleanBlueLagoon Campaign
As part of its city clean-up programme the 3rd annual FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN is proud to support the #CleanBlueLagoon Campaign that will take place this coming Saturday 21 September 2019 (International Coastal Clean-Up Day) at Ezemvelo Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve (North of the Umgeni River).
Started by locals, Luc Quevauvilliers and Dale Johnson, in March 2016, the #CleanBlueLagoon Campaign hosts a clean-up on every third Saturday of the month to coincide with the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife Honorary Rangers Open Day at the Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve.
"Our mission is to clean up the area and remove the litter," says Dale Johnson, from the #CleanBlueLagoon Campaign. "We are happy to have various organisations and corporate groups join us. We rely on organisations like Wildlands to remove the rubbish bags for sorting and recycling. We have an initiative called thankSALOT where we pay unemployed members of the community to help us. This is funded through donations from members who cannot make the actual event or by our sponsors."
