Grant Wood Demonstrates in Watercolours
Inspired by great watercolourists, such as Nils Anderson, and other local artists such as Douglas Treasure of Fishoek and Richard Rennie from Clarens, Grant's love and fascination with art grew from a young age. He now looks to artists such as Alvaro Castagnet, Nita Engele and Viktoria Prischedko with a view to loosening up his style - a very difficult task after about fifty years of painting!
Grant has had a number of successful exhibitions over the years. He has exhibited at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg and these days, his art is displayed in galleries such as Zulu Lulu, Imbizo and Riverbend in Southbroome on the KZN coast. He also runs a three-day art workshop in watercolours called 'Umzumbe Beach Art Escape' from his development in this quaint little south coast village.
From property developer to part-time retired artist living in Umzumbe, Grant also enjoys mountain biking, cooking and a bit of fine weather surfing too.
Although the popularity of watercolours is on the increase again in South Africa, Grant will be heading to the States in October to explore further avenues for sales of his works in the future.
