Hoot to show your care

Hoot to show your care

Date: 2013-06-07
Childline KZN showed its Support for Child Protection Week!

All South Africans - corporations, faith-based organisations, community-based organisations, government, children and citizens must invest in the future of our children.

This call comes from the Chairman of Childline KZN, Mervyn Sigamoney, as Child Protection Week came to an end on Sudnay, June 2nd. Child Protection Week aims at reducing incidents of child abuse, neglect and exploitation (CANE) through awareness campaigns.

Last week Childline KZN staff took to the street to promote the 'Hoot to show you care' awareness campaign which was intended to advocate children's rights, educate and mobilise families and communities about their responsibility towards the protection and care of children and inform and educate the public about the comprehensive basket of services needed by children in their emotional, cognitive and physical development.

South Africans were also urged to wear a green ribbon during Child Protection Week, as the colour green refers to life and growth, thus symbolising that of a child.
