Mayor calls for protection of municipal resources

Mayor calls for protection of municipal resources

Date: 2014-02-28
KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu has urged communities to work together, to ensure that government facilities are safe.

Mthembu has been making major inroads in various communities for the past three weeks, following promises he made last year during the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), roadshows.

A total of four multi-purpose sports courts are under construction in Madundube, Sakhamkhanya, Ntshawini and Thembeni areas.

Speaking at a sod-turning event last Wednesday in Madundube, Mthembu said, the community has to exercise its collective responsibility to protect municipal facilities as he continues to deliver according to his promises.

He said the ward committees must to take responsibility to ensure that public facilities are safe at all times. This includes the multi-million rand Madundube community hall that is currently under construction.

'We are making reasonable progress, we must work together to ensure that these developments are protected. It is now up to the strength of ward committees to ensure that they work with the community to protect government resources'.

Mthembu was handing-over one of four multi-purpose sporting facilities on site described as Combo Courts, facilities which are to be occupied for various sport codes which include Volley ball, Tennis, Netball and basketball.
