KZN delivers Boerewors Recipes for the Championship Boerewors

KZN delivers Boerewors Recipes for the Championship Boerewors

Date: 2015-07-17
The Champion Round held on 11 July at Shoprite's Caneland DC was a fun-filled day for the whole family; however, the main attraction on the day was the sizzling excitement of the competition. At the end of the day three Champion Round winners were announced who will continue and compete in the Top 18 round.

The three-winners, Deon van Standen (Durban), Nolan Krisna (Durban) and Pravin Rampiyarand (Stanger) were all selected after rigorous blind taste tests by the judges. All three of them received gift hampers from sponsors.

The annual Championship Boerewors Competition is now in the Champion Round stages with the first three events taking place this past Saturday, the next three events will be on 18 July. The six events see over 650 recipes braaied nationwide to find South Africa's Top 18 Boerewors recipes. These recipes will go on to contend for the grand prize of being crowned the Championship Boerewors winner for 2015 and a Hilux 2.7 Double Cab Raised Body L45.

This year has seen the format of the competition change and for the first time ever the public will vote for the winner during a Top 3 showdown. The South African Chefs Association (SACA), a recognised authority on food in South Africa, takes charge of the judging processes and makes sure that all entries adhere to the guidelines for making truly traditional boerewors.

Shoprite and Checkers are proud of SA's boerewors tradition and celebrate it every year by hosting the Championship Boerewors competition. The supermarket chains' butcheries are famous for exceptional meat products and the group is always looking for new recipes and ideas in order to offer consumers the best in quality and variety. The annual Championship Boerewors competition plays a pivotal role in helping the group to achieve this aim.

Follow the competition through the website https://www.championshipboerewors.co.za and make sure to vote for your favourite between 28 August and 10 September during the Top 3 stage to stand a chance to win amazing prizes as well!
