The sounds, sights and aromas of South Africa fill the air at Sibaya
Heritage Day was marked with all the colour and flair that is synonymous with South Africa's colourful people and cultures at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom. The sounds of traditional music and drums, as well as the aroma of South Africa-inspired food filled the air. Homage was paid to the array of cuisines that have influenced South African food, from Indian curry and Africa pap and chakalaka sauce, to Shisa Nyama and familiar Afrikaans favourites like vetkoek and mince. And lamb wors rolls.
Vibrant local band, Khombi Ziqubu kept guests entertained, while balloon makers and face painters were on hand to keep children in good cheer. Mangwanani Spa, which is based at Sibaya, hosted a pamper station where guests could indulge in a revitalising, Africa-inspired treatment using natural oils.
"Our Heritage day celebration was a vibrant and well-supported community event. It was heartening to see members of our community come together to mark the day at Sibaya. South Africans have a pioneering spirit, we care, we are creative, we are determined, we are warm, and we are hospitable. These characteristics are so beautifully-evident when communities come together on occasions like Heritage Day," says Janet Pillay, PR and Promotions Manager at Sibaya.
