Dear Ed, RE: PAROLEES
Dear Ed, RE: PAROLEES
Date: 2022-10-27
The recent release of statistics in Parliament regarding parolees and their rampant criminality is shocking and disturbing and needs to be urgently addressed.
President C Ramaphosa ( a shady and inept leader) and Justice Minister R Lamola (an aspirant future Deputy President) please take necessary measures to attend to this heinous situation. The fact that over 300 persons have been murdered and about 400 persons raped in the past 2 years, inter alia, solely by parolees is mind boggling and totally unacceptable in a civilised society. Surely the Parole Boards are making ill-informed and incorrect decisions/recommendations and need to be fired in toto or the majority replaced as their actions have contributed much to this grotesque situation prevailing.
If not already in place, the overseas system where parolees are tagged or have a chip inserted in their bodies so that their whereabouts are monitored 24n will go a long way to alleviating this dire issue. Monitoring officials and social workers must also play their parts too in this matter.
The authorities must review the pathetic parole system so that justice prevails and one's enshrined rights to peace, safety and protection, per the RSA Constitution (Act 108 of 1996), are preserved.
Kindly act decisively and speedily to see to it that this absurd situation and calamity are curtailed and rectified, lest citizens be forced to take pertinent measures to protect themselves and their loved ones. Due to the failing justice system and failed parole system and ongoing prisons and police officers incompetence and ineffectiveness in many instances, citizens could be forced to take necessary steps in desperation and defiance to see to it that their and their loved ones rights are not violated by parolees and other criminals. Note self-defence is a legal justification and generally non-culpable .
I pray that restoration of public faith and credibility in the justice and parole systems will soon be a reality and we are not at the mercy of criminals, thugs and other scumbags who hitherto have acted brazenly and with impunity.
