Voter registration movement on the roll

Voter registration movement on the roll

Date: 2016-03-04
KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu and business owner and performer, Oscar "Dj Oskido" Mdlongwa are calling on all qualifying citizens to participate in the 2016 Local Government Elections.

On 25 February 2016, during their visit to four local schools, Mthembu and Oskido affirmed strongly their support for the Independent Electoral Commissions voter registration drive, encouraging all unregistered learners to dedicate the weekend of 5 - 6 March and 9 - 10 April 2016 to register to vote.

Mthembu had earlier implored Oskido to lend a hand in efforts to reduce the number of learners at local high schools without decent school uniform.

Oskido then committed to make available 40 uniforms, toping-up on the 900 full uniforms that Council has delivered within the past four years.

"Voting is the most important way to make your voice heard on matters and other issues of concern to you and because we are in a democratic country, your view is important in order for government spheres to provide adequate healthcare services, housing, education, fairer taxation, employment, improve amenities, better roads and transport infrastructure", they said in a joint statement.
