Device Handover

Device Handover

Date: 2014-04-05
On the 26th April 2014 the CEO of KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board Maritime Centre of Excellence Mr Mthokozisi Radebe handed over the Intel Portable Capture Station, this is a mobile handheld device designed to increase independence for people who have trouble reading standard print.

The Intel Reader may be used to assist people with dyslexia or other specific learning disabilities, or have vision problems such as low-vision or blindness, which makes reading printed words difficult or impossible. The Intel Reader, about the size of a paperback book, converts printed text to digital text, and then reads it aloud to the user. Its unique design combines a high-resolution camera with the power of an Intel Atom processor, allowing users to point, shoot and listen to printed text.

The Gift was warmly received by the KwaZulu-Natal Society for the Blind representatives Mr Bobbie Pillay (Fundraising Coordinator), Mr Bobbie Choudree (Board Member).

The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board strongly believes in improving the quality of life for all and the Board strongly feels that this device will achieve exactly that for the KwaZulu-Natal Society for the Blind.
