Vivian's Celebrates in Style

Vivian's Celebrates in Style

Date: 2013-02-28
KwaZulu-Natal businessman Vivian Reddy has spared no expense to celebrate his 60th birthday and the 35th anniversary of his company, Edison Power Group, last Saturday at Moyo in Durban.

A whopping R10 million is believed to be the final figure of the expense for the party themed "Diamonds in the Rough", which refers to the untapped potential of the children of South Africa.

Vivian promised glitz, glamour and elegance as the city has never seen and he has definitely delivered. Food and drinks were served all night long and the live entertainment was enjoyed by many, who danced the night away.

But it was not only about the 1280 guests that came to the glamorous high tea function. Vivian Reddy's birthday was about giving to the children. Reddy booked out uShaka Marine World and entertained 10 000 disadvantaged children, who were accompanied by 500 trained child minders, at an estimated cost of R5 million.

The children were treated to an all-day educational puppet and dolphin show as well as all the rides and fun they could muster. Inspired by Hare Krishna Guru Indradyumna Swami, a two and a half ton birthday cake was baked, of which the kids will each get a slice. Previn Naidoo of the Baking Pan in Overport baked the birthday cake.

When asked why the elaborate celebrations, Reddy laughed and said: "Maybe because I have more money now. Seriously, my turning 60 and my company celebrating 35 years are milestones. I am a businessman, I love entertaining and making people feel special, so I want to celebrate in style." And celebrate in style we did.
