Relaxing at the end of the Midmar Mile

Relaxing at the end of the Midmar Mile

Date: 2014-02-14
A total of twenty two swimmers took part in The Sunflower Fund's 2014 Miles4Marrow Midmar Mile Campaign which raised over R50 000 for The Sunflower Fund.

Swimmers involved obtained sponsorship per mile covered. All money raised will be used to include new bone marrow stem cell donors on the South African Bone Marrow Registry in turn giving hope to children and young adults diagnosed with life-threatening blood disorders such as leukaemia.

The Midmar Mile experience is about preparation, passion and perseverance bound together by the support of family, friends and fellow swimmers. The sunny skies and temperate weather of Sunday's event seemed to echo the high spirits and positive vibe of the supporters and spectators that flanked the banks of the Midmar Dam.

In this test of human endurance, the Sunflower Fund swimmers took on every stride in solidarity in support of those patients suffering with life-threatening blood disorders. The Sunflower Fund would like to thank all the Miles4Marrow swimmers and their sponsors for their amazing contributions.
