ACDP celebrates International Nurse's Day at local clinics

ACDP celebrates International Nurse's Day at local clinics

Date: 2015-05-29
ACDP Kwadukuza members took time to visit our local clinics in an effort to show their gratitude and appreciation to the nurses who serve the people of our municipality. As the largest health care profession in the world, nurses play a major role in the development of our communities. They are often the only health professionals accessible to many people in their lifetime and therefore are particularly well placed and often the most innovative in reaching the under served and disadvantaged people.

Nurses employed at public clinics and hospitals in our communities are often not recognised for the efforts they put in. Their jobs are very demanding emotionally, physically and mentally especially because of the overburdened health system. Their role in health care cannot be undermined as it is vital in providing health and comfort to many.

The nurses at the Kwadukuza, Shakaskraal and Ballito clinics were ecstatic with a surprise visit by ACDP members, who thanked the nurses with a small token of appreciation for the exceptional service they provide to our communities. Sister Jessica Govender at the Ballito clinic said that it was the first time a political party had taken the time to acknowledge them and the work that they do.

Pastor Michelle Annet Sewraj who was present at the Ballito clinic with other ACDP member said the ACDP believes that it is critical for us as a community to honour the services of those who work in challenging conditions to provide the best health care service they can. The visit to the clinics by different members of the ACDP with a gift for each of the nurses present, was a way to inspire our local nurses to continue the good work they were doing to serve our municipality an to assure them that the hard work and efforts to ensure that all patients are well take care of has not gone unnoticed. The ACDP honours all the nurses for the work they are doing.
