Hyundai i30 N - It's A Rocket That Will Make You Smile

When Hyundai set out to mass-produce a high-performance passenger car, they could only have planned and hoped for it to be as much of a success as the i30 N is.

It is obvious that the developers at Hyundai were having fun when they developed the i30 N. The N is derived from Namyang Hyundai Motor's global Research and Development Centre in Korea, where the i30 N was created and the world-famous Nürburgring, where Hyundai have their European test centre.

Using the three cornerstones of Cornering, Race-track Capability and Everyday Sports Car, they threw everything at the Hyundai i30 N, starting with a 206 kW four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with front-wheel drive. Now they've given the i30 N Hyundai's N DCT eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to help channel the 392 Newton meters of torque.

The developers of this everyday drive, a racing car just gave it everything. From a Rev Matching function that aids smooth gear changing to an overboost function, which increases the torque by up to eight per cent. The exhaust gets a treatment too with a dual muffler and a variable exhaust valve system. It's no wonder they added a G-Force meter that also records your lap times for you on track day.

They gave the car five drive modes called the N Grin Control System, Eco, Normal, Sport, N and N Custom. You have to smile, this is a seriously fun car.

Of course, they gave it a serious set of safety features that includes extra Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driver assistance features supported by radar. Of course there are the mandatory six airbags and all the other standard safety features you would expect.

The Hyundai i30 N includes a 7-year/200 000 km warranty, roadside assistance for 7 years or 150 000 km, and a 5-year/75 000 km service plan. Service intervals are 15 000 km or once a year.
