Nappies and Networking
The UWA (Umhlanga Women Achievers) chose The Domino Foundation's Babies' Home programme as its March recipient. Tarin Stevenson, the NPO's Donor Relations Manager, in accepting the donation, said the transition home had celebrated more than 150 babies nurtured during its fifteen-year history and then either taken into adoptive families or reunited with their birth families. "Our Babies' Home programme liaises with Durban Child Welfare to provide 24 hour-a-day care for the children and UWA's generous gift will help us give these little ones the care and love they deserve."
"The Umhlanga Women Achievers have committed themselves to performing random acts of kindness." Said Esther Bishop, "As a networking organisation, we focus on the building of relationships, which in turn leads to friendships. In such an atmosphere, we know that we need to look beyond ourselves and so each month we choose a charity and purchase items the charity needs to the value of R2000. We also ask our members to also bring in items to augment our gift".
