Calling Sweet Old Ladies!
Calling Sweet Old Ladies!
The Ladykillers
Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre: 23 May to 16 June
Are you a sweet, little old lady? Or could you at least pretend to be? Well, KickstArt needs YOU!
We need five or six ladies over the age of 65 to make up a small chorus of "sweet little old ladies" who appear in two scenes of our forthcoming hit comedy, The Ladykillers.
KickstArt in association with Pieter Toerien presents the South African premier of the West End hit, The Ladykillers - a classic black comedy; a sweet little old lady, alone in her house, is pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing which comes to the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from 23 May until 16 June.
From the writer of Father Ted, Graham Linehan, comes a hilarious and thrilling new adaptation of the celebrated Ealing comedy The Ladykillers, directed by Steven Stead. Starring Charon Williams-Ros (Cabaret, Beauty and the Beast), Tim Wells (God of Carnage, Don't Dress for Dinner and Twitch), Iain "Ewok" Robinson, Cobus van Heerden, Peter Court and Lyle Buxton. It opened on the West End in 2011 and has enjoyed two sold out, critically acclaimed seasons, and a current national tour and Broadway transfer.
The ladies appear just before and just after the interval. This would mean that we would need you at the theatre from 7.30pm when curtain goes up until about 9pm, from 22 May to 16 June. Performances are 7.30pm Tues-Sat, 2.30pm Sat and 6pm Sunday) at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre.
You should be keen on the theatre (preferably with at least some amateur stage experience) and of course be a bit fit and up for the challenge. You don't have to sing or dance or anything wild, but you do need to be able to act, and keep a character. The ladies are only on stage for about 10 minutes altogether.
If you are interested, or know of anyone who might be interested in taking part in this fun project, please email, Steven Stead: kickstart@letni.co.za and he will get in touch with you by the end of April.
