What's The Issue?

If our not so beloved at all President Jacob Zuma carries on the way he is going then the inevitable will happen. I didn't do economics at high school, when I went to school, and I at least did go to school, even made it to matric, and that is not very far really, however even I can see that we are on a road to slavery given our current national direction.
Unless Mmusi pulls a rabbit out of the hat and with the current attitude from Number 1, we can only expect our currency to continue being the punching bag of Western banks and governments; we can only expect the brain drain to carry on sucking the real wealth of this country out of the economic equation. This will only exacerbate the already flooding rush of capital extraction, with all and any wealth available in liquid form following the brain drain. Add this to the graph line and it turns down exponentially. Very quickly we will be at the mercy of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Our membership with BRICKS, although something to be celebrated might turn out to be just the leverage the West needs to bring us to our knees, our economy dwindling, joblessness and unemployment's graph line will turn up, in opposition and then it becomes a downward spiral. There is incredible wealth and power in the geometry of a downward spiral, however that is another topic for another day. The downward spiral of the most prolific economy on the continent will be catastrophic. Unless Putin buys us out, we get what's left of the Bush administration, and the IMF will cut the social grant faster than the beat of a horse fly's wing.
If that is the only way that the power and control of our economy is going to be wrenched from the hands of our current government, and a regime change bought and paid for by the highest bidder effected, then that will be a sad day for our Rainbow Nation. However it looks as if that is where we are headed, unless Mmusi Maimane comes to our rescue. But how does he do that? One might ask. We would have to go to his rescue in the upcoming national elections. Is this the only way out for the Rainbow Nation? No one wants to think so, and whether the DA can pull this one out of the nose dive that it is in also begs the question.
Still Mmusi is calling on Jacob to tell all in the resignation of yet another national director of public prosecutions, Mxolisi Nxasana.
In more pressing issues I read between the lines in the sudden enthusiasm from the US in getting behind the coalition against ISIL, now that they will be targeting them in Syria. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov thinks it an unfortunate mistake, and I reflect on how it was Russia that stopped the advance of the Arab spring when they warned Obommer against military assistance to the rebels in Syria. Ukraine intends to seize Russian foreign property assets in the European Court of Human Rights and news that the missile that shot down MH17 was a Buk-M1, a missile the Russian forces do not possess. It seems Russia is being drawn into a war whichever way possible. I hope I'm wrong.
