Markets for the whole family

Markets for the whole family

Date: 2013-10-25
There are three glorious markets coming up for everyone who loves a fun family outing, some great food and innovative ideas....

The Wholefood Team is developing a reputation for unusual markets selling innovative wares. The concept is the vision of Glenwood Community Forum member and market convenor Darryl Hofmann to offer a series of inspired community events in interesting places in an endeavour to help locals to explore their city.

First up is the second Hampstead Market which offers a fantastic day for the whole family in Pietermaritzburg: the food and craft market takes place 27 October in A1 Hampstead Park outside Pietermaritzburg. The market will have a country feel, being held on a smallholding in Bishopstowe.

The market will also have a large children's entertainment area including a jumping castle, cup-cake icing and animal menagerie and pony rides. There will also be competitions for the kids to enter with some great prizes.

Then head down to the Point on Friday as the sun sets to catch the monthly Durban Night Market at the Three Cities Docklands Hotel on Friday 1 November.

The Night Market will be on a Friday for November, as Thursdays typically have become very busy. The idea is to contain the market in the Three Cities Docklands Hotel's charming courtyard. The range of products on display is evolving to focus on Durban's top creatives and funky, cutting-edge design, handcrafted and bespoke items.

The monthly Food and Craft Glenwood Sunday morning market comes to Bulwer Park on Sunday 3 November from 9am until 2pm.

There will be a range of deli-items for an open air winter picnic brunch with German pastries, Indonesian Food, koeksisters and bacon and egg rolls. There will be gift ideas, décor inspirations, arts and crafts on sale. There will be vintage clothing, handmade leather goods, wooden toys, and a yoga demo. There will be fun activities for the kids, the children's play area is operational and there will be a jumping castle, cup cake icing and the animal menagerie will be there.
