F1 Report

When Farnando Alonso said that his win at Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix would change nothing at Farrari, he may have only been referring to certain aspects of the team's performance.

In a race that epitomizes the thrill of Formula 1, the Malaysian Grand Prix kept the tyre decisions boucing around the pits for almost the entire race. Wet, intermediate, dry, from the onset of the race after almost the whole lineup started out on intermediates. Conditions got so bad that soon after the race had started the safety car came out and when conditions did not improve, the marshals decided to red fag the race and bring it to a stop.

Once conditions had improved the race got under way again behind the safety car. Again tyre choice came into play and the pit crews had their work cut out for them.

At the end of the day Ferrari's Fernando Alonso took the checkered flag sending the Ferrari team into a frenzy in the pits. However it was the drive of a lifetime for Sauber-Ferrari's Sergio Perez, who challenged Alonso in an exciting battle. It was Sergio's first podium finish of his career and a wonderful boost for team Sauber-Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton brought his McLaren-Mercedes across the line in third place followed not very closely by Red Bull's Mark Webber.

Alonso's surprise win puts him in first place for the driver's championship at 35 points, followed by Hamilton with 30 points and Button lies third with 25 points. McLaren-Mercedes is lying first in the constructor's points with 55, Red Bull has 42 and Ferrari 35.

The next F1 weekend will be held in Shanghai China on the weekend of the 13th, 14th and 15th of April.
