Helping one child at the time

Helping one child at the time

Date: 2014-04-05
Tish Smith from LIV Village

"If each of us realise the significance and impact we can make by looking after just ONE, together we can give thousands, if not millions, of children a safe home, a mother to love them, food to eat, an education and a bright future." Tish Smith

Tish Smith starts his speech by tearing up and it takes a few seconds before he composes himself and can start talking. As Tish stood before a large group of potential investors, doctors and interested parties, at a lavish breakfast function at the Oyster Box Hotel, he finally found his voice. "If we look at our country and the world we will realize that it is in a big mess."

Tish continued, "We have five milion orphans and the disparity between rich and poor is enormous. We have to realize that the time has come that those of us that have must be able to share with those that do not have, not only financially but also with our time. Lets face it, this country is in our hands."

Tish stressed that prosperity is not about money or the material things, he said that in this life prosperity is about changed life. He said that he shaped LIV model on the fifteen years of success of Watoto villages in Uganda.

LIV has a goal to become a self-sustainable village through farming and enterprise development projects. He believes that together we can rescue a child restore a life. Raise a leader. Release a star.

"'The country is judged by the way it looks after its children.' said Nelson Mandela, I pray that when people arrive at King Shaka International Airport they will say this is a province that looks after their children." Said Tish.

Guy Brasier CEO of DeloitteKZN, the firm that audits LIV Village encouraged businesses and individuals to join him in the in making South Africa better. He said, "Imagine how many children it will take to change our communities. It is really easy to give. Lets join together to make this country better. The LIV Village model is sustainable. Your Contribution and involvement will make you happy."
