Pop-up market makes for practical networking

Pop-up market makes for practical networking

The pop up shop craze hit Balito last week and local businesswomen used the opportunity not only to showcase their wonderful festive season gift ideas but also to show support and share marketing ideas for 2016 amongst each other.

Organizer of the market, Corinne Corneulissen, told The Bugle that the concept of a pop-up market first came to her when she was thinking of ideas to help her friend promote her small business. "Small businesses need exposure to build a client base and what could be better than a market where potential clients have an opportunity to browse different niche products in a relaxed atmosphere." She added that the Balito pop-up market would be expanding to include businesses from Durban's northern suburbs in 2016.

"I have plans to expand the pop-up market to include even more local businesses and to extend an invitation to the businesses in the Durban area. With the market as a communal platform, the opportunities are endless and open for all types of businesses. In turn this market will then add to an even better shopping outing for those looking for treasures our commercial retail outlets do not offer."

Pop-up exhibitor and local businesswoman Manuella Botha agreed with Corneulissen. "During these 'pop-up' events we see each other's business in context. We learn about each other and we share the benefit of doing better business," she told The Bugle.
