In November, uShaka Marine World will reverberate with the haunting sounds of African drums as over 60 dance troupes perform the Indlamu - the traditional dance most often associated with Zulu culture and based on warrior war dances.

It's time for the annual Vodacom Zulu Dance Championship in association with the Department of Arts and Culture - an exciting competition that will single out 10 dance top dance troupes to participate in an exciting final on the 1st of December 2013. First prize is R10 000 cash, a floating trophy and a R350000 guaranteed working contract from December 2013 to December 2014. The second and third placed troupes will receive cash prizes of R 8000.00 and R5000.00 respectively.

"This event is unique and only happens at uShaka Marine World. It started nine years ago and has given performers a fantastic opportunity to develop this special art form and share it with both local and international visitors. Each performance is a memorable cultural experience that is the very heartbeat of the Kingdom of the Zulu," says Entertainment Manager Wayne Scott.

One of the judges alongside Stella Zuma, Jerry Poe and representatives from KwaZulu-Natal's Department of Arts & Culture and Vodacom, Scott says that uShaka Marine World is looking forward to welcoming thousands of dancers who will compete on 9, 16, 23 November as well as members of the public who will definitely enjoy this dance spectacle.

Registration for each event is 9am with the shows starting at 10am. For more information, contact Nombuso Buthelezi for bookings on 031-3288103.
