The Michaelhouse Music Festival

The Michaelhouse Music Festival

Date: 2016-04-08
An impressive line-up of phenomenal eclectic music - from Ladysmith Black Mambazo to Beatenberg; Platform Jazz to Nibs van der Spuy; and the KZN Philharmonic to Seb Goldswain - is on the programme for the second Michaelhouse Music Festival, over the weekend of 22 - 24 April.

Following on from an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response in 2015, the weekend programme has been thoughtfully-curated to offer a smorgasbord of world-class music to cater for a myriad music lovers who can enjoy the best of South African pop, choral, acoustic, jazz and classical music in the tranquil setting of Balgowan.

The packed programme will coincide with the School's Old Boys' Day celebrations: an occasion, which traditionally attracts visitors from around the globe to spend the weekend in the beautiful Balgowan valley.

A major coup for a festival is the event's opening act: a-cappella giants, multi-Grammy Award winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who will be jetting in from a tour of North America, the Caribbean and Australasia to entertain the audience in the Midlands.

Greg Theron, Rector of Michaelhouse said, "We are absolutely delighted to have the harmonious talents of one of South Africa's best known and loved music acts not only performing but opening the festival for us. I believe the array of music we have over the three days offers something for everyone. For the young or old, or hip and happening to classical or jazz lover, we have it!"

The Michaelhouse Music Festival is well on its way to establishing itself as a Red Letter Day in every lover of music's calendar and can be enjoyed from 22 - 24 April 2016.
