Volvo Never Fails

Volvo Never Fails

So its that time of the yearCamping trip with my best friends. It has become a ritual that once a year we visit the same community on a beautiful stretch of coastline. Just five hours from home is a paradise I only like sharing with a chosen few, how we get there is of paramount importance as getting stuck there could mean unwanted disaster.

The vehicle we chose this year to take us to Kosi Mouth was the Volvo XC60. It's big and strong and has ample room for all our gear. It's fair to say that once we were packed and ready to go, there was very little room left but we were cosy and happy.

We knew the weather would be foul but that did not deter us from making our annual pilgrimage. The Vovlo proved to be the perfect vehicle to take us there. Its smooth, soundless drive was the perfect way to start our retreat. We are also amazed at the fuel consumption, at one point we thought that the needle was stuck and we imagined being stuck on the side of the road, waiting to be rescued.

All our fears were unjustified as we reached our destination with ample fuel in the tank. The local children and elders ran to greet us. Everyone commented on the Volvoone elder, patting my husband Tomas on his shoulder said, "Numzan, you drive a car that says you come from Umhlanga."

With that we all burst out laughing and got ready to pitch our tents as the rain approachedand to our horror we found out that out of sheer neglect, and maybe some forward thinking sixth sense, we had forgotten the most important article of the camping trip - the tent. Staring in despair at my friends, we were offered a space in one of their tents. However Tomas flopped the rear sets forward and our double pump up matrass slipped perfectly onto the cavernous space created in spacious Volvo XC 60.

Needless to say the Volvo saved the camping trip and we were the only party that stayed warm and dry.

Today we are planning our next camping trip and the Volvo XC 60 is coming along. Who knows, this time we might just leave the tent behind and try this new style of camping, it beats, the leaks and the creepy crawlies and brings you closer to your loved ones.

To test drive the new Volvo XC 60, contact Volvo Cars Umhlanga on 031 571 2600 or visit them at their showroom, 6 Sunset Close, Umhlanga Ridge.
