Report on the ACDP Presidential visit to Ballito

Report on the ACDP Presidential visit to Ballito

Date: 2014-05-02
The president of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) and long standing Member of Parliament, the Honourable Dr. Kenneth Meshoe briefed local party supporters at a public meeting held on Friday 25th April 2014 at the Lighthouse Family Church in Ballito. Accompanying Dr Meshoe was the deputy president of the ACDP, Councillor Wayne Thring and many members of the KZN provincial executive committee.

Local ACDP branches invited Dr Meshoe because he is regarded as one of the strongest and forthright Christian voices in the nation. Dr Meshoe informed the crowd not to make the mistake of thinking that voting for a small party will be a wasted vote but highlighted the importance of making their vote count in the next upcoming elections. He stressed that what South Africa needs is not a strong opposition party but rather strong godly government. He emphasised that this is the only solution that can bring change to the state of the nation.

Dr Meshoe also said that the ACDP is fast growing as many are choosing to support the principles of integrity, reconciliation, righteousness and family values that the party has been built on. Dr Meshoe assured his supporters that soon the ACDP will no longer be considered to be a small party. He announced "I have met with the leadership of the Shembe Church, one of the biggest churches with over 6 million followers. They are tired of voting for a corrupt government. They told me that they want to vote for godly government and want to support the ACDP. In Lesotho the people are saying that the present government has undermined their values. They are turning their votes from ANC to ACDP."

Dr Meshoe shared with excitement his expectation of the party increasing its impact by securing more seats in National Parliament, "people will be surprised with what is going to happened in this next elections," he stated. The party currently holds three seats in National Parliament and is hopeful that this will increase following the May 7th elections. Dr Meshoe called on members of the public to be wise in making their mark count on the 7th of May. He motivated local supporters to continue to grow the party.

The ACDP in KwaDukuza boasts ten official branches within the municipality, with more branches expected to be launched in the near future. Speaking at the event, local ACDP councillor, Pastor Nel Sewraj said: "For the first time in the history of our democracy, the ACDP won its first seat in KwaDukuza Municipality. Many thanks go to all ACDP candidates, voters and supporters." Pastor Nel Sewraj also said: "The ACDP is the only representative and voice the South African Church has in parliament!"

Dr Meshoe said: "South Africa needs God like they have needed God before. South Africans must take Archbishop Desmond Tutu's recent advice: 'South Africans must pray before they vote'." The meeting therefore concluded with lots of prayer for the ACDP and the electoral process.
