Mr. Suave of Beverly Hills Hotel

Mr. Suave of Beverly Hills Hotel

Author: Kasia Yoko
Date: 2014-07-04
Deputy General Manager of Beverly Hills Hotel Mr. Frank Rubino

Frank Rubino may have had big dreams of engineering degrees with life of structure and balance but it was not to be. At the young age of twenty-three he was flying high running the largest steakhouse in South Africa and this was just the start of his giant dreams. What he really wantedwas to get into the hotel industry.

It was easy for Frank to get it right, with his perfectly sculptured features and impeccable personal demeanour, Frank soon landed a job in a five star boutique hotel in Cape Town.

Having never studied the hospitality industry and wanting to be the best at what he did, Frank needed to compensate for his lack of qualifications by developing systems for the hotel industry. He soon became a highly sought after commodity in South Africa, eventually starting his own consulting company that was in demand by most hotel groups in the country.

But that still was not enough, Frank told The Bugle, "The South African hotel industry has always pursued people with international experience and they would pay top price for experts to come from abroad to assist them with local challenges, so I knew that in order to really know my trade I needed to gain experience abroad."

Frank secured a position in landed in London working for one of the most dynamic hoteliers, Jasminder Singh, head of the £800million Radisson Blu Edwardian hotels empire. He worked with Mr Singh for almost four years and in that time learned the most important lessons about managing people and being on top of your game.

"Jasminder Singh is a dynamic leader and a man with incredible vision." Frank told The Bugle. "Working side by side with him, running his empire opened my eyes to many aspects of managing people and avoiding unnecessary conflict."

One of the most valuable lessons that he was taught was to be an inspiration to the team he worked with and to have the right systems in place so as not to tempt people into breaking the rules.

Frank came back to South Africa last year to be closer to his daughters. He saw an opportunity and challenge in joining the team at the Beverly Hills in Umhlanga and decided to settle down in KwaZulu Natal.

"I love the people who work at the Beverly Hills. The hotel has a great service ethos and general manager,John de Canha is a true inspiration and a wonderful hotelier." said Frank.

"As a deputy G.M. of the legendary Beverly Hills hotel I have set myself goals and targets and I want to take this hotel to the next fifty years of splendour." With Frank's dynamic vision we have no doubt he will achieve this.
