Sharks Trail Adventure returns

Sharks Trail Adventure returns

Date: 2015-11-13
Trail running and mountain biking fans and their families can look forward to the ideal start to the festive season in the company of their favourite rugby players when the STIHL Sharks Trail Adventure takes place at Summerveld Estate, Shongweni on Sunday 6 December.

The popular Upper Highway venue is the ideal location for this family day out which offers a multitude of MTB and trail running options while the race village's wide variety of entertainment will keep those less adventurous members of the family well entertained as well.

Cyclists can once again look forward to the exhilarating yet very manageable trails of the 40km and 20km Half Marathon events while the 10km Family Ride is tailor-made for those just getting into the sport.

True to the day's family-orientated approach, the Sharkie Kids Ride is the perfect event for the youngest members of the family to enjoy their slice of the action as they are led out by everyone's favourite toothy mascot with parents welcome to bring prams, push bikes or even just run alongside tomorrow's stars.

For the runners, the magnificent drop into the Shongweni Valley and waterfall crossing of the 18km event as well as the 9km race's spectacular vistas are certain to offer participants a great day's adventure.

Back at the race village the ever popular exclusive Sunday staging of the renowned Shongweni Farmers' Market gives attendees a memorable Christmas themed market experience with live entertainment to add to the festive mood of the day.

The Cell C Sharks squad will once again be in attendance and fans can look forward to getting up close and personal with their rugby heroes during the mid-morning meet-and-greet autograph session. The players enjoy manning some of the seconding tables on the route, relishing supporting the fans who support them from the grandstands at Growthpoint KINGS PARK.

Participants, supporters and local community members alike are invited to pack a picnic basket or bring along their own braais and enjoy they afternoon lounging about in the ample cool shade of Summerveld's trees while the children enjoy running around in the open countryside.
