Mini Is The New Maxi

Mini Is The New Maxi

Author: Tomas Yoko
Date: 2014-04-25
Ever since the new Mini arrived on the scene and sent people scrambling for the phone book to look up the telephone number of their nearest Mini dealer, this small car with a big heart has shown that it should not be taken lightly. Not Normal, is one of the trend payoff lines offered by this exciting brand and I had the pleasure of test-driving a few of their models.

First up I want to tell you about the Mini John Cooper Works Paceman that I tested to the hilt. They say that it is all about quality over quantity and the quality of this car was evident from the moment I took to the driver's seat. But there are other qualities that were more impressive than the stylish upholstery and attention grabbing central clock / information centre.

Take for instance the mind-boggling acceleration. The John Cooper Works engine was singing with delight as I zealously threw the Mini into the tightest of S bend corners, only to swing it across into the second of the curves. Waiting for the slip to come I threw it again into the third curl in the S bend and then realised that the Mini had not even squeaked on tiny little squeak.

So I went back and did it again, this time at 15 kilometers per hour faster. The slightest of squeaks was uttered from the tyres and maybe just a little squeak from my own lips. The performance was thrilling, some would say sic, I was amazed at the road holding and also at the level of comfort the Mini provided when simply cruising the streets quietly at around 120.

This is certainly a car for someone who is sporty in nature and likes to drive, but check out SMG Rocks, they have a range of Mini models from the fun-tastic Mini Cooper Coupe to the hugely practical Mini Cooper Countryman. You will find them at 21 Lighthouse Road, Umhlanga or you can call them on 031 561 3569 and they will tell you everything.
