The Newly Relocated Umhlanga Country Club Was Officially Opened

Date: 2016-09-02
Last week the Umhlanga community came together to celebrate the relocation of the Umhlanga Country Club to it's new, modern premises in Prestondale, Umhlanga, after it was moved to make way for the R3.1-billion Oceans Umhlanga Developmentset for Lagoon Drive.

The local community witnessed the epoch-making 'Key Handover Ceremony' event last Friday, 26 August 2016 at the new Umhlanga Country Club premises.

This exciting new R20 million project was funded by Vivian Reddy and Rob Alexander of Oceans Umhlanga (Pty) Ltd, in a joint partnership with the eThekwini Municipality.

Vivian Reddy hosted the lavish cocktail event with Cllr SiphoKaunda,Chairman of the eThekwini Public Accounts Committee. Mr Reddy confirmed his commitment to the Umhlanga community emphasising that his recent success with the Oceans Umhlanga development can only be a good thing for the KZN community.

"Originally the development for the club was quoted and budgeted on R5-million, however, over the years the costs have escalated to R20-million. Alexander and myself have since offered to fund the excess. We wish many years of true joy to the club members," said Vivian Reddy.

Umhlanga Country Club Chairman, Pat Shanks, said, "We now have one of the best-looking clubs in KwaZulu-Natal," he said. Boasting two bowling greens, four tennis courts and a club house spread over 19 hectares of land, the new facility was worth the wait."
