The Grace Wing At Ashlings

The Grace Wing At Ashlings

Date: 2014-08-22
It is with much joy that we announce that our Ashton family continues to grow. At the start of 2015, we will begin the footprint to grow out The Grace Wing. The Grace Wing is the specialised wing of the Ashlings Early Learning Centre catering for students on the autism spectrum. Two small classes will initially be accommodated in a beautiful setting overlooking the Ashlings Early Learning Centre. As the need grows and as Ashton acquires more land, these classes will be expanded to a new facility.

The Grace Wing will open its doors to students aged 47 in two classes of eight. The Grace Wing will deliver an adapted and autism-specific curriculum, using an eclectic blend of world?s best practice in educating students on the spectrum. ?In the future, the Grace Wing will incorporate a remedial curriculum where there is an urgent need in Ballito, said CEO Mr Andr‚ Buys. At Ashton, we believe that every child deserves to reach their highest potential, therefore The Grace Wing will provide a highly structured environment suited to the learning profiles of our students who, as they grow and achieve, work towards full-time inclusion within the mainstream classes of their peers at each individual's rate of progression.

Staffing will fall under the expertise of Tammy Bennett, who will be assisted by individually trained teachers, teachers? assistants, fully qualified Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists who will be on campus full time.

We are extremely excited about this one-of-a-kind venture in Kwa-Zulu Natal, where children will be able to learn at their own pace, in their own way and yet have access to the wonderful Ashton facilities, just as any other child would,? said Mrs Holmes, Junior College Head.

Admissions are being processed immediately, and enquiries can be directed to Glynis Hunter on 032 946 2096 or admissions@ashtonballito.co.za
