What's The Issue?

What's The Issue?

Wow they are streaming into England like there is no tomorrow and Europe and Cameron are at a loss with what to do. They are scrambling to form a plan of action to deal with this issue. Here in South Africa we have one illegal immigrant entering the country every ten minutes. I don't hear about any plan of action, all we have is the scourge of xenophobia and that is no way to handle it.

Figures say that there are between two and six million illegal immigrants in SA. That is a big jump from two to six. No wonder we don't know where we stand with this issue.

One issue we do know where we stand is the criminal case against Julius Malema and two others. The four charges of money laundering, fraud, corruption and racketeering were struck off the role once again with more delays. This has been going on since 2013. They can't seem to get any action on this matter and while the Judge, Billy Mothle says any further delays would be infair to Malema and co, the National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku showed an interest in possibly recharging the accused. It was over some tenders of around forty million Rands. A drop in the ocean.

Speaking of prosecution, who is going to protect our public protector. Thuli has come under the cosh and I believe that she deserves a medal for the way she has stood by us, the public, the citizens of this country. She has had to resort to using the press to speak to Baleka Mbete, the speaker of Parliament.

In her efforts to protect us she seems to be calling on us to help her protect ourselves, and I quote "If the people of South Africa feel, as lawyers and as ordinary people, that the Constitution is being trampled on, that personal feelings about people is determining how people conduct themselves, let the people do something," and so we should. But what? So often we say we should, sometimes we say we will, however we seldom really do.

Apathy, we all suffer from it at one time in our lives or another. I think I have a daily bought myself. Now with the farm killings and the laughing at serious matters in parliament and the seemingly untouchable attitude of some of our leaders there is a growing concern for vigilantism breaking out. That would be disastrous for everyone.

Then there is that dentist who killed Cecil. Besides the fact that it was a heinous act of selfish and unnecessary murder, it has rallied the cause of animal rights and promoted so much action and attention on the issue. So what if it was just one lion and millions of chickens are slaughtered every week? Opps, sorry. Was that the wrong question to ask?
