Coastal Living Bru Kicks Off To A Fine Start!
Co-ordinated by Fine Young Chefs and Hirsch's, the knock out competition for the Coastal Living Bru Junior's cooking challenge that will be taking place on the 2nd 3rd and 4th of July at La Montagne during the Mr. Price PRO International Surfing champs, saw the children whipping up some delicious, colourful and pretty tasty couscous salad dishes. "They were given a hand in the kitchen by 3rd year students from The International Hotel School, and although many of them had never tasted couscous before, they managed to come up with some fantastic creations." Said Fine Young Cooks owner Lewaine Von Alleman.
Judges included SMEG Director Judy Horton (Smeg are suppliers to the Coastal Bru competition), KwaDukuza Ward Councillor, Ann McDonnel, and Managing Principal of The International Hotel School's Durban Campus, Genee Griffiths. After much deliberation they chose the following twelve finalists: Chrystal Munisamy, Jessica Siedle, Ayanda Ncele, Jordon Duncan, Jordan Willis, Sfiso Mthembu, Jenna-lee Pillay, Kelsey Joubert, Abigail Van Der Linde, Luke Fisher, Ntsika Shangase and Vicky Middleton.
The Children will be tasked with cooking a "breakfast for Mum" in the finals which will be held from 4 to 5 pm at La Montagne Hotel from 2 to 4 July. The kids cooking show will be followed by the adult Amateur Cooks competition, which will see amateurs pairing off with some top chefs in the industry for the title of Top Amateur Chef at the Festival.
