KwaNzimakwe Multi-Trail Launch a Success

KwaNzimakwe Multi-Trail Launch a Success

Date: 2019-11-08

Visitors from the KZN South Coast and beyond participated in the hugely successful launch of the KwaNzimakwe Multi-Trails on Sunday, 3 November, forming part of Ugu South Coast Tourism's Great Drives Out route. In attendance were Mayor of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM), Cllr Cynthia Mqwebu; Honourable MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Ms Nomusa Dube-Ncube; local traditional leader, Inkosi B.S. Nzimakwe; and CEO of USCT Phelisa Mangcu. Commenting on the launch, Mangcu said: "We'd like to extend our thanks to everyone who came out to support and experience the extension of our tourist routes to our communities as this gives visitors a unique experience of the region's traditional heritage and natural beauty. There are many plans to further develop this area, so watch this space!" Visitors got to enjoy the Halfway Toyota 4x4 obstacle and demo course as well as the 4-hour trail excursion. The South Coast Striders hosted a 4-kilometre family trail hike with four-legged friends invited, and there was a 22-kilometre off-road motorcycle trail in support of Stuart Gregory's 'Nuts4Dakar' campaign. Also in attendance was South Coast Hospice, an organisation providing palliative care and support to medical patients.
