Full Moon Night Walk
Full Moon Night Walk
On Saturday the 30thMay 2015 Tidal Tao will be hosting another epic Full Moon Night Walk. Once again we are lucky to have this walk led by Andre Steenkamp.
Andre is possibly one of the best environmental educators in South Africa (if not the world) and has the ability to get anyone totally fascinated with marine life (especially rocky shores) - this is a great opportunity to explore our rock pools after dark and stand a change of seeing some amazing creatures ....and of course it will be a nice low tide and just a couple of days off full moon, so at worst, expect a beautiful evening on the beach. It's a great, fun evening out for the entire family.
The walk is more of a gentle / casual stroll along the Rocky Shore exploring life in the rock pools. It is not overly strenuous in any way (although the rocks can be dangerously slippery sometimes if you're not firm footed) there is to hope to see creatures such as octopus, colourful sea slugs, strange shrimp and crabs as well as a range of other more usual animals you do not normally get to see during the day.
The walk will start the walk at 18h30 (to ensure the tide is nice and low) but come a spot early and enjoy a pizza or drink at Cafe Salt.
Everyone will meet at Cafe Salt, Ocean Drive, Chaka's Rock (we have arranged for a car guard at the parking area) Shaka's Rock (Chaka's Rock).
What to bring? Good walking shoes that you don't mind getting wet (sandals and flip flops can be very slippery if you do not have a firm footing), Walking stick (to help avoid slipping on slippery rocks), A good torch - well worthwhile having a good torch, last time some folks were using cell phone torches and similar small lights.....it really is worthwhile to have something bright, your experience will be a whole lot better with it.R100 per person, all proceeds will go towards Tidal Tao's Environmental Education Program.
