Lucky Start to a year for KZN orphans

Lucky Start to a year for KZN orphans

Date: 2018-01-19

For brother and sister, James and Jade, "family" had been the community at The Domino Foundation's Babies' Homes for several years. Towards the end of 2017, they met their new daddy and mommy, Owen and Joelene Watson, who had travelled from the Northern hemisphere on the far side of the world to take them to their new home in Calgary, Canada.

Never having been on a plane before, they flew out of King Shaka shortly before Christmas on the first leg of the very long haul. After the humid, sun-filled days of KZN, James and Jade are getting used to the sun coming up at 8.30am and disappearing again at 4.30 in the afternoon in the Canadian winter.

Half a metre of snow made it a very white Christmas for the siblings. Their parents are finding it a challenge to keep them out of the white stuff and are on the alert for frostbite and other cold-related issues!

With Christmas tree up and stories of Father Christmas bouncing around at the dinner table, the two new young Canadians spent a story-book Festive Season in their new home. They are doing well and enter pre-school and Kindergarten in the New Year.
