March for Peace and Ubuntu

March for Peace and Ubuntu

Date: 2016-04-22
The Annual Mahatma Gandhi Salt will be held on Sunday 24 April 2016. This year the march will be 5kn and will start at the Amphitheatre on the Beach front to the Ushaka Marine World and back to the Amphitheatre. The march is not a competition and is organised to show solidarity with the principles of Ubuntu and non-violence. It also celebrates the values espoused by Mahatma Gandhi and Inkosi Albert Luthuli.

People from all walks of life come together to recognise the need to build a peaceful, non-racial and caring society. The march has never been a fund raising project, but is an appeal for peace, justice and equity to promote non-violence and Ubuntu. The Gandhi Development Trust's appeal to all community organisations and individuals that identify with these ideas to participate in the march. There is no entry fee. Participants can register online at https://www.gdt.co.za or can register on the day between 7.30am to 8.30am. The march commences at 9am and the entire programme will be completed by 11.30am.

The spokesperson for the Trust, Kidar Ramgobin, said that by participating we can once again pledge our support to build a strong fellowship on strong, solid principles. Let's make this year's march the event of the year for non-violence.
