Trumpet Player Sibusiso Mkhize launches debut album

Trumpet Player Sibusiso Mkhize launches debut album

Date: 2016-03-04
Sibusiso Cyril Mkhize, also known as Sbu Mkhize, is a trumpet- and flugelhorn player as well as a composer and producer from Umlazi KwaZulu Natal, now based in Johannesburg. He fell in love with music at a young age when he started playing in a marching band. Years later he earned his nomination to be part of the Standard Bank Youth Jazz Band, which was led by Marcus Wyatt and Paul Hanmer in 2012 and 2013. ?

Last year Mkhize recorded his debut album titled "Sound, Love, Peace and Honesty" in which he composed and produced all songs himself. About the performance at Seaman's Corner Mkhize says the following:

"The audience can expect new breed of energy, they must be ready to open up and let go, so that the music can touch them. We will perform fresh melodies and lots of jazz, if you don't love jazz you will start loving it on the 5th of March."??

Over the year he worked with a variety of established artists such as Dr. Brian Thusi, Themba Mkhize, Zakes Bantwini and Andile kaMajola. ?

"I have been privileged to have been exposed to a lot of sessions with different artists and bands, different sounds like classical, jazz, gospel and house music have grown me to the artist I am now" says Mkhize. ?

This performance is supported by Concerts SA,EThekwini Libraries and Heritage Department: Arts and Living Culture Section and brought to you by iSupport. Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian initiative that aims to stimulate live music in South Africa by finding and implementing ways to create regular, sustainable performance platforms.
