KZN Cyclists Join In The War Against Poaching

KZN Cyclists Join In The War Against Poaching

Date: 2014-12-19

This December, a group of KZN cyclists will be embarking on a grueling test of endurance to take up the fight against rhino poaching. 20 cyclists from the Cadence Cycling Performance Centre in Hillcrest will be cycling the 320km from Hillcrest to Hluhluwe in one day to raise funds for Project Rhino KZN.

The group of cyclists including SA road, SA marathon and world mountain bike champion (in age cat), Brenda Potts will leave Hillcrest at 2am on Saturday 13 December and will make their way on mountain bikes towards the Hilltop camp in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, 320km away. To reach their target before nightfall, they will have to average 20km/h for 16 hours without resting- not an easy feat. For this reason, support vehicles will follow close behind to pick up any stragglers.

The Hillcrest to Hilltop Rhino Ride will be raising funds for Project Rhino KZN through donations and pledges from the public. All proceeds will go directly to Project Rhino KZN as cyclists are self-funded.

Project Rhino KZN is an association of like-minded organizations facilitating rhino conservation interventions that are aimed at eliminating rhino poaching in KwaZulu-Natal. Their flagship project is the Zululand Anti-Poaching Wing - an aerial support program benefitting 26 game reserves in northern KZN.

Any donation or pledge towards this cause can be made through https://www.projectrhinokzn.org with the reference PRKZN Rhino Ride or to info@cadencecycling.co.za. Company donations will receive 18A tax certificate.
