I Was A Convert
I Was A Convert
Date: 2015-03-06
When at first I sat behind the steering wheel of a Mini I felt the conversion happening in my bones. The large central speedometer remained an iconic part of the design theme and I felt all the nostalgia of my "old Mini" days come rushing back at me. It was fun fun fun.
But this new Mini that I was test driving was more than just fun, this was the Mini Convertible and it had converted me from sceptic to aficionada in a matter of moments.
The first thing I did was drop the top, the second thing I did was involuntary, my adrenalin glands started pumping like bilge pumps on a sinking ferry. The fun fun fun side of the Mini suddenly became thrilling as the Mini Convertible rocketed me through the traffic circle with breath-taking agility.
The gears shifted so smoothly and the steering was subtle in my hand. The accelerator felt like an extension of my foot and the sharp brakes gave me the feeling of total control. It was tight in a word.
Don't mistake this for a small car, it is big in so many ways, as a relatively tall person I had no issues of space at all and felt right at home behind the wheel.
With the top down and my hair blowing all over the place I was free.I recommend that you take a Mini for a test drive before you do anything else. Call SMG Rocks on 031 561 3569 and arrange a test drive with them or stop in at their stylish showroom as you enter Umhlanga Rocks at Beacon Rock in Lighthouse Drive.
