MAHINDRA GOES COMPACT

MAHINDRA GOES COMPACT

Date: 2013-12-06
Mahindra has entered the increasingly competitive compact SUV market with its very spacious Mahindra Quanto. It is targeted at the lifestyle market and was previewed at the Johannesburg International Motor Show recently and has now gone on sale at more than 60 dealerships countrywide, priced at R199900.

South Africa is the first country outside India to market this boldly-styled new addition to the growing Mahindra range of SUVs. The Mahindra Quanto is the perfect multi opportunity vehicle that combines the mobility of a SUV, the utility of a MPV and the comfort of a sedan.

Besides being exceptionally spacious the new model is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine, which develops 89kW of power and a class-leading 290Nm of torque. It also delivers outstanding fuel economy of 7.6l per 100km on the combined test cycle.

It is the only vehicle in its class that has a separate chassis for added ruggedness. The Quanto has plenty of off-road credibility too with 200mm of ground clearance. It uses a coil spring suspension in the front and rear, with a five-link system for the live rear axle, while the braking system is a combination of front discs and rear drums.

Safety features include two airbags in front, anti-skid brakes and side protection bars in the doors.

The Quanto is a five-seater in a 2+3 configuration with the rear seat having a divided backrest that can be folded to increase load versatility. The spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate so it does not take up any usable space inside the vehicle and it also gives the Quanto a definitive SUV appearance.

Standard equipment levels are generous and include air conditioning, a 2 DIN  radio/ CD audio system which is MP3 compatible, remote keyless entry, roof console with sunglass holder, rear window demister with wash-wipe facility, central locking, digital driver assist system, alloy wheels, electrically adjustable exterior  mirrors and front and rear power windows.

The new Quanto SUV is covered by a 3-year/100 000km warranty and comes with a 3-year/60 000km service plan included in the purchase price. For more information contact Mahindra Umhlali on 032 947 2463.
