Micro-Entrepreneurs Blossom in Ballito

Micro-Entrepreneurs Blossom in Ballito

Date: 2017-09-14

Grace Family Church are delighted to be bringing business training to the local under resourced communities of Shaka’s Head; by working with micro-entrepreneurs at its’ Ballito campus, for the first time.

This programme is well established and has shown significant growth in the past two years, running at Grace Umhlanga and Riverside campuses. After the training, these Entrepreneurs increased their business revenue by an average of 45% Due to the lack of employment opportunities in South Africa, many individuals become entrepreneurs by default; making the need for basic business skills a high priority.

Micro-entrepreneurs (who earn under R150 p/day) are often the primary breadwinner in the family and lack the knowledge and guidance needed to navigate their way through the early stages, into a more stable and profitable phase. Often resulting in their businesses failing.

This business training uses the ‘Paradigm Shift’ model and content, which teaches basic business principles in practical ways that can be applied immediately.

This training is facilitated by volunteers and funded by Grace Aid (NPO & PBO organization which focuses on adult skills development). Twenty-Five entrepreneurs completed the one-day Business Experience Course (BEC) and eighteen of these continued on to complete Module 1.

The excitement is mounting as we approach graduation day on 9 September, 9am at Grace Family Church Ballito campus. With businesses ranging from day care and confectionary to brick-makers and a host of others, coming from the neighboring Shakas Head community.

We anticipate much growth in the entrepreneur programme, as we have seen a real need for entrepreneurial knowledge, mentorship & practical learning.A celebration not to be missed!
