Mi Casa - Soulful Sounds

Mi Casa - Soulful Sounds

Author: Yosheen L. Govender

Three individuals blended ever so smoothly together with a stream of endless talent and sensationally soulful sounds, Mi Casa, South Africa's musical trio have most definitely made their mark on the music scene.

Made up of Joao Fonseca, Moshe Kgasoane and Sipho Mphahlaza, they each have their own funky band names i.e. J'Something, Mo-T and Dr.Duda. An "unrehearsed piece" that blew their audience away was how it all started for Mi Casa with them riding the wave of popularity and success ever since.

They each bring their own edge to the group with years of musical experience as their foothold - Dr Duda is a club DJ and producer, J' Something is a singer, composer and guitarist with Mo- T spicing it all up with his tantalizing talent on the trumpet.

Living life through music and collectively dazzling fans with their explosive talent, Mi Casa's self titled debut album with hits such as "These Streets", Heavenly Sent", "All the Glory" and "La Vida" is a fresh mix of dance, jazz, vocals and disco all perfectly packaged to bring a brand new meaning to the genre of soulful house.

Off stage and when not in studio, the trio enjoy time with their families, cooking, Playstation gaming, catching up on TV series and hanging out at their favourite restaurants. "I love pizza," comments J'Something with extreme enthusiasm and "enjoy cooking as it takes me away from everything but I do hate dishes!" Dr. Duda says he "is crazy about gadgets" whilst Mo-T is "mad about cars."

Playing at the glitzy SAMA awards was a memorable moment for Mi Casa and has fuelled their passion to take their music to new levels. A new album is on the cards with tours planned both locally and internationally and an array of trendy merchandise that fans can look forward to.

With a striking motto of "Self belief is the greatest strength in the world", it's no doubt that this band has just the right mix of faith, passion and confidence to take them exactly where they dream!
