Kuzwayo wins Administrator of the Year at SA Sports Awards
Rural and Township Development Manager at the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union Sanelisiwe Kuzwayo won the Administrator of the Year award at the South African Sports Awards in Johannesburg on Sunday evening. Overcome with emotion, Kuzwayo thanked the Kwazulu-Natal Cricket Union, her predecessor Linda Zondi and her family for their support. In her role as administrator of the KZNCU Rural and Township Development Programme, Sanelisiwe, better known as "Sane," manages the various individuals tasked with taking cricket to children living in historically disadvantaged communities.
These include eleven supervisors and 52 coaches who work in a total of 48 townships and rural areas extending across KZN, and stretching as far afield as Port Shepstone and Pongola. One of the Kuzwayo's crowning achievements is the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union, KZN Department of Sport and Recreation and Sunfoil Township Schools Tournament.
"I am incredibly proud of Sane and the whole township development department," says the CEO of KZN Cricket, Heinrich Strydom.
"This is an incredible achievement for KZN Cricket and due recognition for a unique programme that has achieved immense successes amidst unbelievable challenges.
"May this programme continue to spread the passion for cricket to all parts of our province!" Kuzwayo beat off some stiff competition in the form of Dylan Tommy of Lifesaving South Africa and Michael Makhubela of Volleyball SA for the award which will go with her Administrator of the Year award that she won at the KZN Sports Awards recently.
The South African Sports Awards is an initiative of the Department of Sports and Recreation and SASCOC.
